Procedural documents have to make sense to a judge or lawyer in another country. So I translate them using that country’s procedural terminology, not word for word.

I use the English names the courts use on their own websites, so the reader abroad can identify the court and its level at once.

judgments, rulings and decisions;
procedural applications, summonses and writs of execution;
evidence: contracts, correspondence, invoices, reports and expert opinions.

How I work

I use the official English names of courts, for example Lietuvos apeliacinis teismas – Court of Appeal of Lithuania and Vilniaus apygardos teismas – Vilnius Regional Court, and keep procedural terms consistent throughout. References to legislation, case numbers and case law are carried over exactly, with their dates and numbers.

Court documents often come with procedural deadlines, so we agree the delivery date up front.

Court document translation with legal review starts at €14 per page excl. VAT, or €17 incl. VAT for private clients (1 page = 1,700 characters without spaces). Same-day delivery carries a 50% surcharge.
