Certified translation and notarisation

Lithuania has no sworn translators: a translation is certified by the translator’s signature. When a document has to go to an authority in Lithuania or abroad, I sign the translation myself, and if the authority requires it, a notary attests that my signature is genuine.

What I translate

birth, marriage and other civil status certificates;
diplomas, diploma supplements and certificates;
powers of attorney, contracts and register extracts;
medical and other personal documents.

How it works

Send me a photo or scan of the document. You will have a price and a delivery date the same working day.
I translate and sign the translation. The translator’s signature is included in the price.
If notarisation is needed, I sign in front of a notary in Vilnius. The notary attests the authenticity of the translator’s signature and binds the translation to the original or to a notarially certified copy of it. You pay the notary’s fee directly to the notary.
A document for use abroad may also need an apostille. If the notarised translation needs one, it must be issued by a different notary from the one who attested my signature, so you will need to visit two notary offices. I will tell you in advance what your case is likely to need.

Interpreting at notary appointments

When someone who does not speak Lithuanian is party to a transaction, I review the draft in advance and, at the signing, interpret the contract, the client’s questions and the notary’s explanations into and from English.

Price

Prices for private clients start at €9 per page incl. VAT, translator’s signature included (1 page = 1,700 characters without spaces). The minimum order is €15 incl. VAT. Interpreting costs €60 per hour incl. VAT: the first hour is charged in full, then €30 for each half-hour started. If longer documents need reviewing before the meeting, we agree on that in advance.
